Awesome First Day of School Book
I'm a first grade teacher and Mo Willems books are LOVED by my classes. This book got here today (damaged cover with splotches, but Amazon CS took care of it), and I LOVE IT! It will be the book I read the first day of school to my 1st graders to help break the ice, but also to develop an interest in Pigeon books that we have in our classroom library. Another Pigeon book series winner.
Another Winner from Mo Willems!
I don't know how Mo Willems does it but The Pigeon Has to Go to School is just as fantastic as the rest of the series! In true Pigeon form we find him fighting this horrible injustice with every fiber of his being taking the reader along on his emotional journey. This story addresses many of the fears and anxieties that little ones feel as they get ready to go to school for the first time in a fun and silly way. This is a perfect book for back to school and will have kids laughing and giggling as they face their fears with Pigeon.
Fun book that made me laugh
My 7-year-old granddaughter just got through reading this book. It did make her laugh. She thinks it is a good book for children 3years and older--probably best for a four-year-old. She thought it addressed the things children would be worried about just as they were to begin school. She thought the illustrations were funny. It is an easy book for a beginning reader. She loves all the pigeon books.
Great book; bad processing at Amazon
The book is another fantastic addition to the collection for any Mo Willems fan, particularly a youngster who is getting ready to start school. I am an elementary school librarian, and am looking forward to starting off the year with this for my prekindergarten and kindergarten students. It humorously tackles some of those fears children have about school. My only complaint is actually about Amazon. The cover of the book was damaged. It's minor, the bottom of the book looks like it got hit on the corner of something and there is a small scratch above Pigeon's head. No biggie, but still disappointing.

This book is absolutely wonderful— just like all other pigeon books. My daughter has speech delay and LOVES these books. We laugh so much with the pigeon. Thanks for a great addition, Mo!
LOVE Mo Willems
I saw this book while browsing Amazon a few months ago. I pre-ordered it back in May and it arrived the day after it was released nation wide. My first graders love Mo Willems books and they will definitely love The Pigeon HAS to Go to School! It has a little reference back to the original Pigeon book, Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus. Super cute book and can't wait to read it to my students on the first day of school!

Mo Willems is fantastic!! We love his pigeon books and this one doesn’t disappoint! My 3 and 7 year old boys cracked up along with me while reading it. I will definitely be reading this on the first day of school in my classroom this fall!
Pigeon books are fantastic.
Pigeon books are the best books for kids! Started buying for my granddaughter when she was small. She would run to sit on Pap's lap so he would read them! She has them all but this one, and she will get it when we see her-- she just turned 19! Hoping she will read them to her children one day!
Great book on the hesitations of going to school!
My son loves these types of books where the characters are talking/INTERACTING WITH THE READER. This book is an easy read and kids think it's funny! The hardback book is about 9"x9" which is a decent size for kids, with big lettering as well! It's about a pigeon that doesn't want to go to school because he already knows everything, he starts talking about all the "what if/why/what"(s) of school, he has a positive thought about school, and then he CAN'T WAIT to go to school and ride the bus!
Adorable, funny book for children experiencing anxiety about school
I purchased this book amongst 20 others and my 7 year old son loves it the MOST. We read it through the first two months of school and we just read it yesterday evening. This is his go-to book when we read before bedtime. He returned to school after e-learning since March 2020 when the schools closed to flatten the Covid-19 curve. He returned to brick and mortar at a brand new school with no welcome committee, no activity from PTA to connect with others and we could not walk him to his class or pass the entrance gate. The open house was a zoom meeting. So his anxiety at a new school was pretty rough. The pigeon is funny and sometimes spastic. It's cute! This book is adorable and humorous and isn't emotionally heavy for the parent or child. It is worth the money and I recommend it.
